Manchester Jewish Museum tells the story of the Jewish community in Manchester over the last 200 years. Through photographs, objects, documents and room settings, visitors gain an insight into the lives of the individuals who came to the city in different waves of Jewish immigration. There are temporary exhibitions, please see the website for details. The Museum opened in 1984 in the former Spanish and Portuguese synagogue which was built in 1874. This is a superb example of a synagogue built in the Moorish style. The museum offers an educational programme for schols, colleges/universities and adult groups. Details can be found on our website. Heritage Trails around the old Jewish quarter of Cheetham Hill on Sunday July 31st, Sunday August 28th, Sunday September 25th and Sunday October 30th. They start at 1400.
